MY SECRET TO A GENKI LIFE:
Great food and good company is important to me. Being authentic in mind, body and spirit has always been my secret to living a holistic life. By practising self-love, and aligning my thoughts with positive emotions and behaviours, this is how I live my genki life. For me, sharing a meal with family and friends or giving edible gifts that are lovingly baked is the most rewarding way to invite positivity into my life, and to make someone else feel loved, supported and appreciated. I love to bake sweet treats at Christmas time to give as gifts or drop off a meal when a friend or neighbour needs help. Cooking brings so much joy and happiness to my life and to others who appreciate the gesture. Food connects people and together we can survive anything! Showing love, support, compassion and kindness towards others can be achieved in a simple hour of baking or by giving a gift that is Natural such as a plant or eco-conscious product that supports good health.
Growing organic herbs and vegetables is also important to living a genki life. To me, living a genki life means being authentic and to do this I like to grow as much food as I can and to use only Natural products that support a healthy life. Learning how to recycle or re-purpose something rather than just throwing it away is also a top priority. Where I live is boat access only, this means that we have to carry every item that we purchase from the car to the boat to the house. We are also on tank water only, so during times of drought we have to be mindful of our water usage and re-use it to nourish the vegetable garden, this means bucketing shower water, feeding scraps to the chickens and composting everything. Living like this I feel more environmentally conscious and this makes me more aware of our household consumption. When you have to limit your purchases and carry your shopping or garbage over 100 meters, you become more mindful and you consider the impact certain products can have on the environment. We don’t want nasty chemicals polluting the waterways or plastic bags harming turtles.
To me, living a genki life means choosing items that are made safe for you, safe for animals and the environment. Growing pesticide free produce and choosing toxic-free products that are made with Natural ingredients is key. It has become my life-purpose promoting safe and healthy brands that care about the world we share, and that compliment a holistic genki lifestyle.
