my secret to a genki life:
that understanding everything is energy, including the thoughts we think. If repetitive, these thoughts will eventually manifest into physicality. It takes conscious effort, every day, to change our thoughts to ones that serve us. I spent more than four years holistically healing a prolapsed uterus. Our uterus is our second heart, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. What does it say about where we’re at if our centre — our second heart — falls out of balance? So much!
I long struggled with body image and self-confidence issues. I couldn’t look in the mirror without judging what I saw (and I still work on this every day). I had to dig deep to understand why my emotions had contributed to my physical condition. It took me on a journey of incredible self-discovery, understanding and healing. I knew my body had the ability to heal without surgery. And it did. But, it took work. This work, while at times confronting, has also given me so many blessings. I now deeply feel it is part of my purpose to serve other women who are going through what I did.
So, my secret to a genki life, is about watching my thoughts, focusing on what I love about myself and my life. “How can it get better than this?” is written on my fridge as a reminder that every moment is a chance and a choice to live in a way that brings joy and fulfilment. I also strongly believe that a genki life is not a destination, rather, it’s a journey. It’s up to each of us to be present in that journey, with all its shades of light and dark.
Is there such a thing as perfection? No, I don’t think so. Striving for it just brings anxiety and overwhelm. Love the journey, enjoy what you do every day and surround yourself with those who make you smile. Love yourself. Be yourself. Don’t care about what you think others might be thinking. These, I believe, are the keys to personal freedom and a genki life. It’s time to get out there and live and the only way to do that fully is with an unconditional love that begins within.
