MY SECRET TO A GENKI LIFE:
I’m a recovering perfectionist and people pleaser.
I spent too much of my life making decisions based on what others would think of me. At the time, I didn’t realize that the core of all my choices were based on proving something. Especially since on the outside I was already living an “outside-the-box” lifestyle. I’ve always been grateful for my journey, but I never fully understood why, even after all the healing work I’d been doing, I wasn’t satisfied and truly happy.
After reading The Courage To Be Disliked a lightbulb came on. I finally realized that I was in the driver’s seat of my life but had too many backseat drivers leading the choice of my directions.
It takes a lot of unnecessary energy worrying what others think. And most of the time there were unnecessary struggles that came along with it because I wasn’t living in alignment with my mind, body and soul.
Setting boundaries, making choices that align with my purpose, being completely and authentically me can be scary sometimes. But I’ve never felt so much joy and peace within. Feeling grounded, even in the chaos, and showing up for myself is living a genki life.
